So I got my new USA Ultimate membership card in the mail today–shoutout to Michelle! (haha)

You’ll note two things. 1 – I used my high-level MS Paint skills to spraypaint over my USAU ID # so you loyal blog-stalkers — I’m looking at you, Wix! — can’t steal my ultimate identity and go playing in USAU sanctioned tournaments all willy-nilly UNDER MY GOOD NAME. 2 – I don’t know if you knew this about me, but I’m LEVEL 17.

Wait.

What the heck does “Level 17″ mean?? There is no explanation on the back of the card, next to the card, in the envelope, or on the USAU website (that I could find, anyway).

So I’m forced to make up what it means. Obviously. I like Genny’s explanation.

Genevieve: It means you should be getting your Helm of Handling in the mail soon and with 2000 more EPs you go to level 18 and unlock the Greaves of Possession

me: oooooooooooo THE GREAVES?!?!?!?!?

Genevieve: Yeah. Awesome. Let me know when you are level 20 – I got some cheats for that level

25 before 25

Inspired by Amanda’s facebook post, and a good way to try and bring this thing back from the dead.

In no particular order, and off the top of my head, 25 things I’ve done before turning 25:

Learned to snowboard
Fell in love, got engaged, got my heart broken
Graduated high school, college, and grad school
Qualified for club nationals twice
Went from qualifying for college regionals because another team dropped out (freshman year) to winning regionals and getting 9th place at nationals (2010, coaching)
Learned to bake delicious pies
Found out I have extra bones in my feet, broke one of them, and had it taken out
Tore my right ACL
Ran a half-marathon after training for 3 months
Ran a ten miler without training at all
Cut most of my hair off
Traveled to England, Austria, France, Italy, Belgium, and Czech Republic
Had a snowball fight on the 4th of July on top of a mountain in Austria
Traveled to 21 states in the US
Conducted a song at the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame
Fell down while marching at Disney World
Attended 3 victory parades (2 super bowls, 1 stanley cup)
Ate 10 tacos in one sitting (my mom’s tacos, not taco bell)
Fell in a toilet (and got stuck)
Tried to hatch an egg by sitting on it
Ate rabbit, bear, and deer
Pet a dolphin
Lost my first dog
Sat in the second row for two concerts (Neko Case and The Swell Season)
Came out to my immediate family

45 minutes on the stationary bike at Trees last night before Danger practice.

long run, week 1

After an unanticipated rest day on Saturday, and crappy weather on Sunday, I finally got out for my first long run of my marathon training on Monday. My mile splits were all over the place, partially because it took me a while to warm up, and partially because there were some hills involved.

This is where I ran, in case you’re interested. Sidewalks are lame, but I did get to run by lots of sweet houses. As a bonus, my knees/hips/feet didn’t hurt at all after this run. My calves on the other hand, were ridiculously sore.

Biked for 45 minutes at home while watching Dexter.

I saw Avatar in 3D today and thought it was really sweet…the 3D of real people scenes was kind of lame, but the Pandora 3D stuff was great.

week 1 – tempo run

Did my 3 mile tempo run on the treadmill at Trees. I think if I have to do another tempo run/run longer than 2 miles on the treadmill again, I’ll make sure I pick one that’s closer to a fan, because it got really hot.
